ButterflyAway a écrit:The French version was translated at a time when animes were considered as "kids shows" by the French government, so our translation of DBZ (and many animes) is a real joke. Many scenes were censored, names changed, and dialogues aren't faithful at all. As Joka said, we had to wait for the Kai version to have something good.
Yes, we in Spain had the same problem. Even some animes where you can see clearly the characters live in Japan, in the spanish translation they say they live Spain! xDDD I would have to ask for an exclusive forum to name all the things they made in that time. xD

Getting back to what we were talking about... So the mistakes are in the french version? Lol! I'm sorry you had to suffer them too. xD
I am looking for a video where there's a mistake that I think it's one of the stupidest shown in the series, but until then, here's another one:

- Cell: you are a super warrior (this is how the super sayans are called in the catalan and spanish version), from a noble lineage of samurais. You are the prince of the super warriors!
So, any of you know what's the reason of these mistakes? Maybe you had contact with the people that did this in the past.
Ah, and a little curiosity: as I said, we here have the spanish version of DBZ, but in catalonia DBZ got translated to catalan too, and Piccolo is called "Cor Petit" because the name "Petit Coeur" from the french version. And you know what? When Dragon Ball Kai arrived, the translators were going to fix some of the mistakes made in the old translations, and they were going to change the name to "Piccolo". The fans when knew about this, asked to not change the "traditional" name, because they like their "Cor Petit".
Luckily, the catalan version translated less episodes from the french version and began to use the original version form Japan, so it got much better. If you ask any DBZ fan from catalonia, they all will agree that the spanish version is a disaster and the catalan almost a jewel (they really did a good job).
